Jagnefält Milton architects: The rolling city

Swedish architecture firm Jagnefält Milton's proposal that has been awarded in the master plan competition for Åndalsnes. This small norwegian town serves as frequent stop for summer travelers that come to visit the fjords or cruise ships that pass along the coast . Yet, Åndalsnes lacks attractions that would invite tourists for longer stays in town. Their design concept creates an exceptional attraction but without disturbing the infrastructure of the city to much. It places buildings like hotels or public bath on existing or newly constructed rail roads which would allow these modules to be moved along the city and countryside depending on the seasonal demands.
